Parnell is an electoral district of the Enderronian Parliament in Wentworth Metropolis, first contested at the 1998 federal election. Located on the eastern side of the Eastern Coast region of the city, it is named after Enderronian architect John Parnell.

The sitting member, since the 2014 election, is Nathan Folley, a member of the Social Democratic Party.

History[]

Parnell was first proclaimed in the 1998 redistribution, as a result of population growth in Wentworth's developing Eastern Coast region. While parts of the Eastern Coast closer to the Wentworth city centre remain affluent and conservative, the migration of young families and professionals into the developing outer suburbs has allowed the Social Democratic Party to gradually consolidate its grip on Parnell since the 2000s. A similar change is occurring in the neighbouring electorate of Sjoberg.

Parnell is a bellwether electorate, having voted for the party of government at every election since its creation.
