Mizuoka is an electoral district of the Enderronian Parliament in Kaigan Prefecture. It was created in 1946 and first contested at the federal election later that year. It encompasses the central business district of Mizuoka and the surrounding inner suburbs.

The sitting member, since the 2006 federal election, is Jack Lotus, a member of the Social Democratic Party.

History[]

The city of Mizuoka was traditionally a heavily working class region. At its creation, the Mizuoka electorate covered a wide region much larger than the city's metropolitan area at the time, and included the neighbouring city of Taralga. Due to these factors, Mizuoka was a safe seat for the Social Democrats for most of its early history. Over the latter half of the 20th century, the city's working class industry was surpassed by tourism and service industries, and grew increasingly marginal. The SDP's 40-year run in Mizuoka was broken when it was picked up by the United Party as it won government in the 1986 federal election. It returned to the SDP in the 1990 federal election, and has since tended to be a marginal seat for that party.

Although not viewed as a traditional bellwether seat, Mizuoka was won by the party that formed government at every election from 1970 to 2006.
