A general election was held on Monday, 2 July 1956 to determine the members of the 6th Provincial Parliament of the Province of Craftia. The incumbent centre-left National Labour Party government, led by Premier Allen Wilson, was re-elected with a reduced but still substantial majority. The opposition centre-right National Party of Craftia, led by William McArthur, finished second in terms of the popular vote but fell behind the right-wing Protection of Craftia Party, led by John Anderson, in terms of total seats won.
This was the last election in Craftian history before women's suffrage was introduced.
